The Hunger Games movie review

In this dystopian future, The nation of Panem is divided into 12 districts and there's also the capital. Each year one male and female child from each district is chosen by a draw to compete in thisbrutal televised game. That will be broadcasted throughout all of Panem. There are 24 participants and they are all forced to kill each other in order to win. While all the other citizens sit back watch ,hope and pray they child from their district wins. When teenage Katniss Everdeen younger sister Prim is selected to participate in the games, Katniss willingly volunteers as tribute. Her and then bakery owners son Peter Mellark leave their home to go face their worst nightmare. Katniss leaves behind her delusional mother, sister Prim , and best friend Gayle. The film was directed by Gary Ross and based upon the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. This is the first of the series and produced by Nina Jacobson and John Kilik. The development of the movie began March 2009 and coproduction with Lions Gate Ent. And Color Force. The main characters were cast between March and May 2011. The film was released March 21, 2012. When released the film set records for opening day($67.3 million) and opening weekend gross($152.5 million) third largest of any movie in North America.Jennifer Lawrence known as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth as Gayle, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch, Elizabeth Banks as Effie, and Donald Sutherland as President snow. The budget for the movie was 78 million USD. In the movie was filmed entirely in North Carolina.

"The Reaping"

this is where Katniss-played by Lawrence enters the ceremony with her little sister prim. They go to be with their age group and pray their name isn't called. When Prim's name is called Katniss willingly volunteered in her place. With a few minutes to say goodbye prim gives cat gives Katniss a pen with a Mockingjay bird on it. This sparks a fire in Katniss and she knows now what she needs to do so she can come back to take care of her sister. In this scene Lawrence exerts courage and protection that she has over her sister prim.

"The Games"

Katniss and Peeta prepare to compete in the games. And practice Katniss overshines Peeta, wow he makes everyone thinks they have secretly something going on on. When the day of the games arrive and the horn sound off, all the tributes take off. Some kill and some run and hide. Katniss runs to the woods and find shelter in a tree. She is on her own and Peeta nowhere to be found. By the end of the first night several canon is sound off letting them know what tributes have died. There are clear allies within the remaining tributes. Peeta joins one but all to save Katniss. They meet up at the end and they're authentic love story makes the capital viewers fall in love with them. So much to the point where there's a change in the rules. There can now be two winners but from the same district. This is in favor of Katniss and Peeta. These scenes are played well by Lawrence and Hutcherson. They show love and compassion. Also they work together as a team.

"The Aftermath "

Peeta and Katniss work together, help each other stay alive and end up winning the games. They return home to their families and back to their district as proud winners of the hunger games. They still can't believe I don't know how they did it. But not everyone's happy, President snow who is over all districts is very upset. He has never like Katniss from the beginning he doesn't believe that a young girl from district 12 should come to the capital and win the games. And not just that take a large group of followers with her. She is creating hope where there was none. And little does she know it but is starting a rebellion in the nation. Letting the capital know that the citizens in the districts are not their puppets. This scene played by Donald shows that the president has set plans for the people and ways that he wants things to operate. And will let nothing or no one can get in the way of that.

This film was something different. It set the bar for a dystopian Films high. I personally am in love with this movie. It makes you think what would you do if you were in this situation. But the thing that sets it apart from most movies is Lawrence. She makes the character Katniss very relatable. And I can't imagine anyone else playing that part but her. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see a thriller and be on the edge of their seat waiting patiently for the next want to come out. I love all of the movies but this one because it was my first that I've ever seen is my favorite.
